While here at Hog Roast Sunderland we often cater events at schools, we catered a particularly special occasion in Seaham recently. Seaham High School was previously called Seaham School of Technology but it reopened as Seaham High School in 2016 after moving to a £14 million state of the art building on Station Road. Although the school has been open since 2016, it had its official opening just before the end of the summer term this year, and Mrs. Sue Snowdon, H.M. Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham, was invited as well as us!
To celebrate the occasion, we were asked to provide a succulent hog roast feast to be followed by fresh fruit platters. When we roast a hog, we prepare it from scratch at your venue and then cook it for several hours until it has a crispy outer, full of salty crackling, and a soft and juicy inside, with meat that just melts in your mouth. For this special occasion, our team would arrive hours before serving the students, teachers and guests, so that we could set up all our equipment and start the cooking process.
You may be surprised that we also serve fruit platters but we believe that variety is key when catering, which is why we’ve always offered plenty of options. Whether you need several courses for a wedding meal or corporate function, starters or desserts serving, a barbecue or bespoke menu or even special diet options such as vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free, Hog Roast Sunderland has got you covered. With advance notice, our experienced and skilled chefs can whip up some suitable options for you and your guests, meaning everyone gets to enjoy our tasty food, and not just the majority.
On this day, our Head Chef Mandy and her Hog Roast Sunderland team arrived in plenty of time to get the meat sizzling away. We outdid ourselves with the presentation of the fresh fruit platters, with slices of pineapple, watermelon, grapes, kiwi fruit, strawberries, oranges, and melon, sprinkled with cranberries. Time flew by and it was soon time to serve our yummy pigs in buns, which went down a storm.
